MAFTNM Alumni Achievement--Class of 2020-Luchen Fang

I am Luchen Fang, from the Class of 2020 of the MA in Communication program-- Film, TV & New Media Concentration (FTNM), School of Culture and Creativity. The year I spent at UIC as a taught postgraduate student significantly enhanced my knowledge and thinking skills. The most unforgettable part is the library at UIC. I often recall the time I spent studying there after graduation. Overall, the courses offered by UIC imparted knowledge that has been instrumental in my current job.

In terms of learning, the excellent teaching environment, professional film and television equipment, and various inspiring lectures greatly enhanced my professional skills. Particularly, the industry-sharing sessions provided me with a deeper understanding of the film and television, “we” media, and documentary industries. Such industry seminars also provided me with a clearer vision for my career plan. It also paved the way for my work after graduation. Overall, my study experience at UIC has greatly benefited me in my later work.

In terms of life, the most unforgettable aspect is the UIC’s canteen. Even after working in Beijing, I still miss the food there. UIC's good living environment allowed me to focus on my studies without worrying about daily life.

After graduation, I had the honor of participating in the 6th China Dream - Youth Video Competition. This festival has great reputation and significant influence among national universities and the film industry.

Meanwhile, I worked as a technical staff member at the PyeongChang Winter Olympics and the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics. I had the honor to assist in the visual production-related work of the “Beijing 8 Minutes” Cultural Performance at the PyeongChang Winter Olympics and the Opening and Closing Ceremonies of the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics.
