[THEM Field Trip] Step into University Hall, "immersed" in the advanced stage technology

In the afternoon of October 10th, 2023, during the course of Event Planning and Management, the course instructor as well as Associate Professor Dr. Purrie NG, and Assistant Instructor Ms. Doris XIE took Tourism, Hospitality and Event Management (THEM) Programme students to the University Hall of BNU-HKBU United International College (UIC), and listened to a wonderful guest talk about event planning and stage performance design from Mr. Tom WU, a senior technician of Estates Management Office.

Mr. WU firstly introduced to the students all the audio-visual equipment in the University Hall, from high-definition projectors to advanced sound systems, from stage equipment to auditorium facilities, and shared the working procedure experience of performance, which is related to course “Event Design Operations”. Through the lively words and specific cases of Mr. WU, students got to know the functions and characteristics of different equipment in a pleasant atmosphere.

After the lecture, Mr. WU led the students into the control room to experience the lighting console and the sound mixing console. The hands-on experience allowed students to gain a deeper understanding of how audiovisual equipment can take performance effects and audience experience to new level.

In this meaningful field trip, the students stepped out of the classroom, "immersed" in the advanced stage technology, and had a more intuitive contact and deeper impression on the event planning as well as stage performance.
