The Campus Salon, organized by the Department of Culture, Creativity and Design, School of Culture and Creativity, in collaboration with the SEG, took place on the afternoon of 13 December. The event featured Teresa, SHMS graduate and WEST&CMS Certified Master Sommelier, who gave the students a Master Class in New and Old World Red Wine Tasting.
The event was divided into three parts: a wine tasting class, an alumni exchange and a Swiss Buffet. For the first part, Teresa started with introducing wine making, guiding the students to understand the materials and production of wine. For the later tasting, Professor Liheng Zhang tried to open the wine himself and Teresa demonstrated the teaching of wine opening and professional wine serving etiquette.
The students followed Teresa's instructions and tried to taste the wine. The first step is to look, to see the clarity, color and depth. The second step is to smell, to smell the purity, intensity and aroma characteristics. The third step is to taste, to taste the acidity and sweetness, the body of the wine, the character of the taste and the aftertaste.
Teresa then joined two SHMS graduates, Victoria and Felix, to share their experiences of working in the luxury goods industry and studying in Switzerland.
During the free exchange session, Teresa, Victoria and Felix, were very patient in answering questions, as everyone enjoyed the Swiss buffet and enthusiastically asked the guest about wine culture.
This wine tasting activity not only provided the students with knowledge in the field of red wine and its culture, but also opened up new horizons for future studies. It is believed that everyone benefited greatly from this activity.
