From 17 to 22 May, the 5^th 24 Frames Creative Media Festival was held on UICs campus. During the festival, there was a forum, film screenings, and an opening ceremony to start off the celebrations.

The festival officially began on 17 May with the exhibition opening in CC 324. The festival had more than 300 outstanding entries from more than 40 colleges and universities from the United Kingdom, the United States, Mainland China, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan.

The opening ceremony was held afterwards, from which 14 awards were given out, including Best Drama Award, Best Documentary Award, Best Cartoon Award and the Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan Gold and Silver Bronze Awards.

On the evening of 17 May, a forum was held, titled From Theme to Screen. The theme of the forum was to give students helpful advice to make their own films. The room was packed, and four expert guests were invited to discuss the theme and give advice to the students based on their backgrounds in film. The guests included director Li Tso-Nan, producers Geng Ling and Yang Dandan, and executive producer Lee Yao-Ting.

Over the next few days, select films were screened on campus, highlighting this year's theme of "language". President of UIC, Prof Ng Ching-Fai said that this annual platform showcases the new media emerging in filmmaking, and he hopes that students will be able to learn and collaborate with peers from different backgrounds. He also remarked that the 24 Frames Creative Media Festival is helping students to gain insight into the front lines of the industry and generate more innovative ideas.
