On May 6, 2021, DCC’s photography class was given the brief to work on nature photography. The location for this was to be the Doumen Crocodile Farm and Nature Park, located approximately one hour by bus from the UIC campus. The students were instructed to look for "detail" in their images rather than filling the entire scene within one image. This is a standard for more advanced image making as well as a compositional technique.
Students were encouraged to find their own striking images and they fulfilled the task with great acumen. No doubt, the exotic location helped them along in their task. For absolute beginners, their work is very inspiring and rightfully makes their teacher, Mark Lent, very proud. In the following, we present a few of their vivid images.
