Another Aquatic Future, a guest lecture initiated by Mr. Zhiwan CHEUNG and hosted by DCCD (MAD), was held in T7-104 on October 28, 2022. We were honored to have Xi Lei as our guest speaker to share his research in the field of art and design with UIC students.
Xi Lei is an artist and researcher based in Suzhou and Cologne. He received his bachelor's degree from the China Academy of Art, followed by a diploma from the Academy of Media Arts Cologne, and is currently finishing his PhD at the University of Art and Industrial Design Linz, Austria. In this lecture, Xi Lei shared his ongoing artistic research project "Rethinking Geo-anthropocentrism and Land-centrism" from his doctoral studies.
By presenting his pre-research, mid-term case study, and field research, along with some of the post-production outputs, Xi demonstrated the rigorous research process combined with images, audios, and videos. In addition, Xi showed a variety of visual outputs and artistic practices that can be beneficial for MAD students to carry out research for their assignments and Final Year Project (FYP), and also provide creative ideas and research methodology.
Last but not least, we would like to express our sincere thanks to Xi Lei and all the faculty who supported this event.
