The dissertation explores how college students develop a set of decision- making mechanisms to screen information in a media society with anoverflowing flow of information. People in the information age worry abouttheir perceptions being regulated by algorithms, not realizing that the fen-ce of confinement is not the information cocoon, but the behaviors andexperiences cultivated through contact with the Internet.
