Currently, the development of technology and the iteration of media was contributed to the faster and diverse channels of communication. Advanced entertainment and cultural industries were accompanied by the transformation of fan culture from a niche subculture to the public. The relationship between fans and idols has also changed from one-way communication to two-way influence, with fans having more power and idols having more influence. This study aimed to understand the interactions between fans and idols via in-depth interviews with 14 fans and online ethnography. The study indicated that the development of media strengthened the bondage between fans and idols. Turning them into a close relationship with two-way influence. Not only can Fans' behavior highly affect the idol’s career, but also the idol can guide the fan's perceptions and behavior. However, this intimate relationship also led to several social problems, while the healthy development of fan culture requires both discipline for idols and proper guidance for fans.
