Impacts that Social Media Use Frequency on Youth's Body Satisfaction and Health Condition

In the context of the post-information age, the influence of social media continues to attract public attention around the world. In particular, it is seen by many as both a stimulus causing body image concerns and also as a pathway that can greatly affect people 's health outcomes. Based on the usage report of typical social media platforms, this research explores the influence of social media use frequency on body image satisfaction and its further impacts on youth’s physical and mental health conditions. An online quantitative questionnaire consisted of cross-sectional and correlational elements was applied in this research. The final results revealed a significant negative correlation between youth's social media use frequency and body satisfaction. With the mediating effect of body satisfaction, social media use frequency was further reported to negatively related to youth's mental health condition and positively related to youth's physical health condition.
