Music Department Welcomes First-Year Students with Enthusiasm and Warmth

On September 11, 2024, the Music Department hosted its annual Orientation Event to warmly welcome first-year students to the department. The event took place at CC105, where students gathered to meet faculty members and fellow students in an engaging and relaxed atmosphere.

The event began with heartfelt speeches from Prof. Thomas Alexander STEIN, Head of the Music Department. He expressed his excitement in welcoming the new students into the Music Department family, emphasizing the importance of building strong connections within the department and taking advantage of the opportunities to grow academically and artistically.

In addition to the welcoming remarks from the Music Department, students were introduced to the English Learning Centre (ELC). Mr. Jonathan James CORBETT, Acting Head of ELC, and Ms. Elyse Peng, Junior English Language Instructor, provided valuable insights into utilizing campus resources to enhance English language skills. This introduction encouraged students to fully integrate into the campus community and make the most of their academic journey.

The event concluded with refreshments, where students enjoyed soft drinks and snacks while engaging in conversations, making new friends, and setting the tone for a vibrant and supportive community throughout their university experience.

The Music Department looks forward to supporting these talented individuals as they embark on their musical and academic endeavors at the university.
