The Music Department at the School of Culture and Creativity kicked off its new season with a compelling event, “Echoes of Bach: A Special Masterclass and Lecture by Lingyi Kong.” Held in CC-129, this exciting program drew students, faculty, and music enthusiasts alike, offering a vibrant exploration of Bach’s solo violin works.

The event featured violinist and educator Lingyi Kong, whose impressive career and unique interpretative skills provided a fresh, inspiring perspective on the iconic works of Bach. The first half of the session was an engaging lecture where Kong shared her deep insights into Bach’s violin partitas, unraveling the intricate layers of the music and offering students a rare opportunity to understand the nuances of interpretation from a master violinist.

The second part of the event saw two of our own students, Zhou Jiaying and Lin Jinhui, receiving one-on-one coaching from Kong during a dynamic masterclass. The atmosphere in the room was electric as Kong brought out the best in the students, demonstrating not only technical expertise but also the emotional depth required in their performances.

Kong’s remarkable ability to fuse technical mastery with emotional expression captivated the audience, and her detailed feedback encouraged the performers to elevate their artistry.

The Music Department was thrilled to have hosted such an engaging event that truly embodied the energy, creativity, and academic excellence we strive to foster. It was an experience that left everyone inspired and eager for more.
