On October 17, 2024, UIC Music Department hosted a distinguished piano masterclass led by acclaimed pianist and Steinway Artist Dr. Yoonie Han at the Performance Theatre. This event provided an exceptional opportunity for students and music enthusiasts to engage with a pianist of outstanding artistry. Dr. Han, Recognized for her "flowing tones, poetic phrasing, and heavenly singing melodies" (Cincinnati Inquirer), has graced some of the world’s most prestigious stages, including Carnegie Hall and the Berlin Philharmonie. She has also earned numerous accolades in renowned international piano competitions.

Throughout the masterclass, Dr. Han offered invaluable, interactive instruction to the students. She meticulously listened to each performance, providing thoughtful and detailed feedback on both technical execution and musical expression. Through live demonstrations and insightful guidance, Dr. Han helped the students refine their technical skills while encouraging them to explore the emotional depth and expressive potential of their music. This personalized approach to teaching ignited a new understanding of piano performance and elevated the students' artistic capabilities.
