The Bachelor of Business Administration in Tourism, Hospitality and Event Management(THEM) is further developed from the Minor Programme in Tourism and Event Management. In response to the increasing demand for tourism, hospitality and event talents in China, it is time to develop and launch a major programme to provide a more in-depth and comprehensive education in this area. The Major Programme in THEM aims to nurture future tourism and hospitality innovators and leaders with global horizons. Our programme emphasizes the linkage between classroom learning and industry applications, provides chances for the students to learn the industry practices, as well as builds solid academic foundations for the students to pursue higher degrees.

The Bachelor of Business Administration in Tourism, Hospitality and Event Management of UIC will be highly competitive because of its unique curriculum, the good reputation of our undergraduate education, the university’s international outlook, and the degree awarded by HKBU.

In February 2022, we welcomed the pioneer batch of THEM. In our inaugural orientation party, students gathered together, communicated with new friends, shared their visions of this brand-new programme.

Our Programme Director, Dr. Eliver Lin cordially shared with students the future development of the programme and stimulated their enthusiasm for the programme and the industry. Then we toasted together to celebrate the birth of the new programme.

In March 2022, THEM organized the first field trip to Hi City for the students. This is the first collaboration between the programme and the industry partner which provided a chance for the students to learn tourism business practices from Hi-City, Huafa Properties.

The field trip also provided the student with an opportunity to apply the theoretical knowledge to solve the real-life issues that are faced by the industry partner. The solutions generated by the students will be shared with the industry partner, which created a bridge between education and application.
