UIC admission process follows the broad-based admission requirements. For their first year of studies, the incoming students interested in the Animation and Interactive Media programme should apply to the Journalism and Communications (JC). After admission to JC, the Animation and Interactive Media programme asks students to provide supplemental materials during the programme allocation in the first semester of year one studies.

 

Students need to prepare their creative portfolio and personal statement for their consideration in Animation and Interactive Media Programme allocation. These documents should demonstrate creative and innovative thinking and various artistic strengths in one or more media.


Application Materials:

1. Personal Statement (About 150~200 words in English). The personal statement should describe the student's personal background, interest in the programme and experience with creative projects. In additional few sentences, the applicant should explain how they can distinguish themselves from other candidates.


2. Portfolio (up to 12 works). The submitted portfolio should be a collection of the best original artwork by the applicant. It intends to showcase the student's artistic style, technique, or creative thinking. The portfolio should be neatly formatted with good quality images and include details about the works' titles, dates, materials or software used, and short descriptions. Choose any media from the list below. The maximum total number of images or other media files should not exceed 12.

Portfolio of Student's Work:

1. Images of art work can include animation drawing, painting, photography, graphic design, mixed media, sculpture, digital art, modeling and others

2. Storytelling, such as a storyboard, illustration, other narrative media with 8-10 pictures where you tell a story and a short synopsis for the whole story as well as for each picture

3. Short film or short animation or game of any kind of video format no longer than 2 minutes, shot with camera, smart phone, etc.
