[CCM Cultural Industry Field Trip] Beishan Chinese - Western Cultural and Creative Industry Base

On May 8, 2024, under the thoughtful guidance of their instructor, Ms WAN Wanqi (KK), students from the " Culture, Creativity and Management in Chinese Cities" course, a discipline within the Culture and Creativity Management program, embarked on an enriching field study and engaged in profound discussions at the Beishan Chinese-Western Culture Creative Industry Base in Zhuhai City.

Beishan Chinese - Western Cultural and Creative Industry Base is situated in Beishan Village, Nanping Town, Xiangzhou District, Zhuhai City. It has a long history and profound cultural heritage, which has spanned over 900 years. The journey began with the green bricks and grey tiles of the Yang Clan Ancestral Hall, followed by Goodone Old Stuff Warehouse and the Local Covenant, gradually led everyone to explore and understand Beishan Chinese - Western Cultural and Creative Industry Base. During the field trip, students personally experienced the organic renewal of community units in harmony with the refined vitality of the city, and recognized the important role of the cultural industry in urban development through the integration of industry and academia.

During the exchange with Beishan Chinese - Western Cultural and Creative Industry Base’s President XUE Wen, the origin story and development process of the creative industry were narrated vividly. The students got more clear and more comprehensive understanding of the appeal of new development models in the cultural industry to young people who are the main consumers. "Enriching community renewal with content, leading with art, and treating each project as a piece of art to be crafted," shared by President XUE.

Relying on historical architecture and guiding by art, Beishan Chinese - Western Cultural and Creative Industry Base with its diverse integration tells the history and the inheritance of culture. This allows students to understand the cultural and creative industry from a different perspective once again, and to better understand their future career development and new industry trends. This visit and exchange activity combines industry and academia, not only expands the students' horizons, but also encourages them to create more possibilities in the future with a positive attitude.
