1. Major Required Courses
The curriculum structure includes 3 categories:
1.1 Stream-specific Courses
The stream-specific courses focus on developing high level technical skills and knowledge in the chosen area. Performance Skills I/II and Advanced Performance I/II provide the student with a strong foundation in technical skills relating to their selected musical instrument as well as knowledge of related repertoire. Thereafter, the Principal Study courses guide the student to prepare them for their Final Year Project recital.

Ensemble Courses
Students have many opportunities to join various music ensembles and gain the necessary experience, such as working and performing with other musicians. For Ensemble A: I/II and Ensemble B: I/II: Students select from a range of available ensembles, including Orchestra, Choir, Chamber Music Ensemble and piano accompaniment.
1.2 MR Core Courses: Ensemble
The ensembles available in the opening year are as follows:
1. Orchestra
2. Choir
3. Chamber music Ensemble
4. Chinese music Ensemble
5. Piano accompaniment
*In Years three and four, the student must register for two ensembles (Ensemble A and B) to study the related history and repertoire, which are assessed in the end-of-semester performance.

1. 3 Music theory and history relate courses
The music courses found in music schools worldwide are related to music theory, musicology, music analysis and music history, providing the musicians with a strong foundation of technical and theoretical skills.

Students study two semesters of Music Theory and Ear Training in the first year, covering core concepts and skills essential for studying music in more depth later. Also, in courses Form and Style I/II and Music Harmony and Analysis I/II, students examine musical works in detail, analyse selected works and apply musical techniques to complete short composition projects.

Students explore critical perspectives on the relationships between music and broader social and cultural contexts in these courses. Specifically, these courses entail close-reading of selected texts, research techniques and the submission of essays.
Apart from the major required courses, students must complete related units of Major Elective Course, General Education course and Free Elective Course.
