I currently work for a third-party consulting company and my work includes providing occupational health-related risk assessment, review, testing, improvement strategies and other services to companies. Occupational health is a branch of public health relevant to many people. It has received increasing attention domestically. It’s increasingly implemented locally though there is still room for improvement. It is challenging to work in a third-party consulting firm but the challenges promote continuous learning and growth. I hope to use what I have learnt to benefit more employees and promote the health of more people.

“ I decided to come to UIC when I was in my second year of high school, and I made the right choice. I grew tremendously in the four years of university. Assignments consisting of quizzes, term tests and group projects came one after another. Summer breaks were scheduled with internships, summer programs, IELTS and GRE courses. The intense learning was a unique experience in UIC which was fulfilling. The courses were taught in English and this gave us better English proficiency comparing to the graduates of other universities in Mainland China. With better English, we have the advantage in going for further studies abroad as well as in future employment.

Environmental science is an interdisciplinary field with many pathways for future development. The four years of study has laid a good foundation for my master’s research. I feel proud to be in the big family of ENVS. My coursemates were friendly and cooperative. The teachers were very good too. There were close interactions between teachers and students. The environment was just great. ”

I joined IKEA after graduation as a sustainability compliance auditor responsible for the auditing of the performance of IKEA’s suppliers in the aspects of environment, social and work conditions, etc. I also assess the risk of supply chain and provide solutions to green supply chain.

I think my work is very meaning because it helps companies to implement sustainable development which benefits both humans and the Earth.
