[CCM Cultural Industry Field Trip] Zhuhai LETS

On Nov. 8th afternoon, 36 students from Culture, Creativity and Management programme (CCM), under the guidance of the instructor of “Culture, Creativity and Management in Chinese Cities” course Ms. KK WAN Wanqi, embarked on a half-day learning and visiting tour to Zhuhai LETS.

LETS is located in the Qianshan area of Zhuhai, it combines industrial incubation, cultural activities, exhibitions, leisure and entertainment, and corresponding commercial facilities. Unlike traditional cultural and creative industry parks, it actively serves as the role of connecting cultural startups enterprises, providing suitable office environment and development conditions for enterprises which possess different natures or categories in the cultural and creative industry.

CCM students attended the president of AD Design Institute CHEN Zhichao’s lecture first, he mentioned about the district's new plan of brand upgrading, which specifically involved the planning, layout, and creation of a cultural atmosphere for the visual upgrade of the cultural street block. The students learned how to propose their creative ideas more accurate based on demand.

Then, under the introduction of LETS Brand Extension Department Supervisor ZHANG Shiqiang, CCM students visited the regional cluster of the LETS and learned about the district's existing operating structure and the ongoing issues being addressed. They also had the opportunity to explore actual cultural and creative enterprises and engage in product-related discussions with the staffs.

Prior to the visit, Ms. KK provided detailed requirements to the students and encouraged them to observe more and discover more practical issues during the visit. During the tour, the leaders of LETS also presented the challenges they are facing in actual operations, and they invite the students to brainstorm creatively to solve the problems.

In addition, this event reflected the implementation concept of theory and practical integration by the CCM programme as well. As a major of Cultural and Creative Industry, we emphasize the training of students' practical skills and innovative spirit, and places special emphasis on integrating knowledge with the industry. Through this field trip, students not only apply the theoretical knowledge, but also gain a better understanding of the actual development status of the cultural industry, at the same time, enhance their comprehension of the chosen major.
