On March 19, 2024, Culture, Creativity and Management Programme (CCM) Associate Professor Dr. Pui Yee NG, and Assistant Instructor Ms Doris Yie XIE, led CCM students to the Coastal Gallery in Zhuhai for a course-related site visit.  They were taking their major elective course "Past to Present States of Arts in Cultural Industries", which provided them a basic framework of the historical development of art & design. The Zhuhai Coastal Gallery, hosted the "Touring Design Exhibitions in Greater Bay Area" event, providing students with an immersive experience in modern art and design.

1. Gallery Experience

Zhuhai Coastal Gallery, one of the famous places in Zhuhai city gaining increasing attraction for contemporary art exhibitions. The brightly illuminated white cubical space, combined with thematic exhibitions exploring contemporary society and art, provided a worthy study and experience for students majoring in Culture, Creativity and Management.

2. Exhibition Exploration

The gallery was organizing the thematic exhibition "Touring Design Exhibitions in Greater Bay Area大湾区设计巡回展". Students enjoyed the morning appreciating and experiencing exquisite IP branded art and design packages from several famous designers from the Greater Bay Area, including 2-D graphics, illustrations, products (food and drink packages, toys, furniture, etc.), immersing themselves in the artistic ambience. Based on the art theories they acquired, students are able to view the art items using a 4-step approach "Description, Analysis, Interpretation, and Judgment", creating an important platform and visual dialogue in the cultural and creative industries.

3. Learning Outcomes

The site visit enhanced the students' perception of the interaction between contemporary art and design work with Intellectual Property, and trained them to appreciate and analyze aesthetics among various art items. It broadened their scopes and knowledge of modern art and art exhibitions or museums.
